What Is WalkWith?

Simplicity can be incredibly powerful.

Silent, meditative walking is the simple practice of moving without a goal, interruption, or place to be. At WalkWith, we lead communities, groups, and colleagues on meditative walks—either in nature or virtually. Breaking free from the constraints of your inside, device-attached lives leads to peace and invigoration.

Time outdoors is critical to a healthy mind and body, as nature is our extended physical body, an essential part of being alive. Critical to the WalkWith mission: Anyone, Anywhere. Our participants tell us how powerful just thirty minutes and a pair of comfortable shoes can be, as WalkWith helps you declutter your mind, increase productivity and use movement to become more focus and calm.

INTENTION

The benefits of meditative walking in nature happen when you simply show up to a WalkWith session and walk. Science shows us that walks reduce stress and anxiety, and increase concentration, brain function, and positivity. Our walks offer communities and safe places where individuals begin to tune into their own intuition, let go, and cultivate awareness.

NATURE

Time in nature is healing and invigorating. Offering a sense of calm, nourishment, and ease in mind, body, and spirit. When we mindfully walk and listen, we begin to incorporate natures’ rhythm in our daily activities. This creates shifts in our nervous system, changes in blood flow, and increases in cells that battle infection in the body. These effects stay with us when we return to our daily routines or go back to our activities.

When we walk together the energy that connects us to each other and nature is compounded. WalkWith sessions create commitment, accountability, awareness, and understanding. We ultimately connect as fellow walkers, co-workers, families, and communities…also the walks are fun and provide an opportunity to not take life so seriously!

A Little About Us 

Hi, I’m Colleen Avis, I believe your wellness approach should be both practical and customized to you – finding balance, health, and transformation. The way I see it, you absolutely deserve to feel your best. As an Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation professional – leading with my heart, using my professional training, and personal experiences – I’ve committed to helping others find balance in their lives through improved sleep, reduced stress, improved nourishment, and emotional wellbeing. You can reinvent yourself. 

After 15 years working internationally in the high-pressure professional services industry, where work dictated my priorities, I began searching for better ways to manage stress and anxiety. This led me to The Chopra Center in 2014, where I earned my teacher certifications in Ayurvedic Lifestyle and Meditation, and to Yoga Medicine where I completed my yoga teacher training and continue to study. 

The practice and knowledge I share ensures lifestyle shifts are incorporated in daily routines and that you feel excited and motivated about your journey.  I’ve come to realize this truth: some of the greatest impacts we can make start with subtle shifts.

 Hi! I’m Gretchen Robbins, a professional Health and Wellness Coach. My life has taken many career turns: After many years in publishing and marketing, I decided that it was time to turn my personal passions into a profession. In my 40s I returned to school to earn a Master’s Degree in Health and Wellness Coaching from the Maryland University of Integrative Health and become a Certified Culinary Coach. Becoming well educated in Nutrition, Fitness, and Mindfulness has helped me achieve my ultimate professional goal of working one-on-one with individuals in walking sessions, face to face, and on the web. 

Using connection, deep listening, and accountability, I help my clients discover what they most want to change, motivate them to set and attain achievable goals, and to ultimately find the balance so many of us crave. 

This same philosophy holds true in my personal life. My family has adapted, accepted, and perhaps even embraced the fact that certain aspects of my self-care are non-negotiable. I am passionate about my relationship with my clients and about helping them to find the balance that works best for their own lives and families.
